
The Gleaner has obtained the transcript of audio recordings used as evidence during Jamaica reggae superstar Buju Banton’s drug trial currently underway in Florida.
The transcript which was posted on www.tampabay.com/specials/2010/PDFs/banton.pdf details conversations on July 27, July 30, August 4, August 5, August 24, September 3, September 12, December 4 and December 8 2009.
The majority of the conversations are between Buju Banton and a person identified as CS. Later in the transcript other individuals identified as Ian Thomas, Unidentified Male and Undercover Police Detective are included.
In the conversations Buju who is identified as Mark Myrie in the transcript and CS speak about buying cocaine, where contacts can be sourced and destinations for cocaine. Buju also speaks about his musicalcareer and that he finances and never gets involved in the shipping of cocaine.
The twelve member jury considering the fate of Jamaican Reggae Artiste Buju Banton is split on whether to convict the singer on drug charges.
The jurors resumed their third day of deliberations this morning.
However, after just over an hour the foreman reportedly sent a note to US District Judge James Moody saying the jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict.
