The R&B singer took to Twitter Tuesday to ask fans to stop sending death threats to fellow celebrities who recently criticized his lip-synched performance at Sunday’s Billboard Music Awards.
One of those targeted celebs is “Sports Illustrated” swimsuit model Chrissy Teigen, who also happens to be the fiancée of singer John Legend.
Teigen added to the chorus of criticism against Chris’ performance when she tweeted, “Why sing when you can dance?”
She has since been bombarded with violent and threatening messages, most of which have been deleted by Twitter administrators.
Teigen responded to threats saying she was really “sad” that “99% of the most disturbing comments come from young girls.”
Brown later chimed with his own plea for fans to stop. He wrote,
“Team Breezy! Lets stop sending death threats! I know y’all bout that life but it’s the wrong message! Ur turning haters into victims!”
Pop stars Pink and Joe Jonas were also among the celebrities who tweeted their criticisms of Brown’s lip-sync act at Sunday’s awards ceremony.
