Kirstin Dempsey, a 33-year-old drug counselor from Capitola was jailed Wednesday after she allegedly sold heroin out of her residence.
According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant was served at Dempsey’s home at about 3:00 p.m as part of an ongoing investigation regarding drug activity.
During the search, officers recovered 6.7 grams of heroin, as well as packaging materials, cash, and other items relating to the sale of drugs.
Investigators say Dempsey was a part-time drug rehabilitation counselor at the ALTO Counseling Center, which is an extension of the Santa Cruz Community Counseling Center. She had been working there for about a year. She has since been suspended.
Dempsey was booked into jail and charged with felony drug possession.
