Frank Ocean is a brave soul. The Odd Future singer took to his Tumblr to clear up the rumors about his s-xual preferences.

It started with a post titled “BASEDGOD WAS RIGHT,” which contained the following message:

we’re all a bunch of golden million dollar babies. my hope is that the babies born these days will inherit less of the bullshit than we did. anyhow, what i’m about to post is for anyone who cares to read. it was intended to fill the thank you’s section in my album credits, but with all the rumors going round.. i figured it’d be good to clarify..

The next post Ocean dropped on his Tumblr was a photo of a letter dated December 27, 2011. Titled “thank you’s” and written while on a plane heading back to Los Angeles from his native New Orleans, Ocean details falling in love with another man about four years and the emotional toll it took on his conscious. By the end of the sincere, heartfelt letter, the singer born Christopher Breaux writes, “I feel like a free man.”

If you think Frank Ocean is not the first or the last R&B singer to be something other than hetero, you’re kidding yourself. Plenty of crooners singing your favorite R&B or Soul jams that you naturally assume were directed at women, were thinking of men while hitting those high notes. But to be one of the hottest up and coming artist in this Hip-Hop world and come out the closet is next level.
