A teenage girl has revealed how she once had so many spots on her face she was nicknamed ‘dart board’ by cruel bullies at school.
But now Harriet Page has entered a beauty pageant after taking medication and finding a new sense of self-belief.
The blonde 18-year-old said she had been left with no confidence during her teenage years after suffering from terrible acne.
Acne is thought to be caused by changes in hormones that are triggered during puberty.
Although most teenagers suffer from spot breakouts as a result, Harriet suffered from a severe case with painful red papules and pustules on the skin.
Harriet was prescribed Roaccutane, which is the most powerful drug for combating acne, for four months. Now only the smallest of scars remain and she says she is finally happy to leave the house without makeup.
She now has her sights set on winning Miss Hampshire 2012 after her mother encouraged her to enter
