North Carolina man was apprehended by the Wilmington Police Department on outstanding warrants, when a police dog, Maxx, ran after him.
After catching up to Glaspie, man and dog engaged in a struggle, ending with the K-9 being bitten in the ear, splitting it in two.
The dog needed 14 stitches, but will recover. “As far as someone trying to cannibalize a dog…I’ve never seen that before,” said Maxx’s police partner Cpl. David Pellegrino.
Not surprisingly, Glaspie denies purposely dining on the dog’s ear. “I just, I didn’t know what it was,” he said, from jail. “They say I bit his ear off. I don’t think I did that.”
As for Glaspie he is being held on $1.25 million bond for a slew of charges, including attacking the dog.
