Tameka Raymond asked that the custody hearing with her ex-husband, Usher, not be postponed in light of the death of her 11-year-old son, and on Monday (Aug. 13), her request was granted. Tameka and Usher appeared in Atlanta’s Fulton County court to resume the legal battle that has gotten pretty nasty and slanderous on both sides.
According to court documents, Usher is seeking to have the agreement changed so that he can have full custody of his sons, Naviyd, and Usher Raymond V.
While on the stand, the R&B star was cross-examined about wanting to take the boys with him on tour in Europe next year, and how he will take care of them. Tameka countered that the 33-year-old’s busy schedule and extensive traveling is not a proper environment for the children. She also used Usher’s alleged 26-year-old stalker that somehow made her way to his home, as more proof that the children may be in danger.
The mother of five, was reportedly surprised by Usher’s request for sole custody. “I was like, ‘It’s ridiculous, are you mad at me? I don’t know why. You know your kids are fine,’” she said. “They’re happy. They’re productive. Maybe I don’t do everything perfectly, but I do the best I can.”
As for his career commitments, Usher said that he tries to carry out his work obligations when he doesn’t have the children, noting that “there may be times when there’s an obligation of something that comes up.”
The court hearing is expected to continue through the rest of the week, and from the sounds of it, the mudslinging won’t die down anytime soon.
